Once again Charles pulls off a magnificent sermon! Addressing the age old question.... I know its a sin. Im going to do it anyway. I know all about grace and forgiveness, so.... whats the big deal?
For me it also addressed the question that I have come across many times in my walk. Once you are saved are you saved forever? Can your salvation be taken away? I think the answer to this particular question for me is two-fold. First I think your salvation can't be taken the way once you are saved. The real question is.... were you really saved in the first place. ? If you THINK you are saved and then you purposely sin (like in the sermon about the man wanting to leave his wife for this younger more lively woman, even tho he knows divorce is a sin and that what he is doing is probably wrong) and your salvation is 'taken away', were you ever really saved in the first place? I think not. I don't think God changes his mind. My opinion.
So, for Charles question, whats the big deal? It was very interesting and provoked a lot of thought from me and I hope continues to on a daily basis for awhile, striking up conversation with God.
The big deal is that Grace is a huge privilege not to be taken lightly. Ive never ever thought of it like this before. Now Ive know that as humans we are higher up in the hierarchy than angels. What I didn't know is that God's grace is not extended to angels. What? Wow!! Once they sin, they are cast out. God does not tolerate sin from them. They are closer to the Light than we (humans) are. It is the same for a Christian (except do have Grace), there is more expected of us. Of course there is Grace for us, but what about the chance that we sin, turning from God and we never come back? That is a scary thought!
Like the man in the story choosing a new female over his wife and shunning the advice of his Christian friends and avoiding them and church. He just never comes back to his Christian ways.
